Julia is also loaded with strong poking and anti-offensive tools. We haven't even went over her i12 mid poke in d,d/f1 (aka shot-gun), or the mix-ups that follow-up. Once you respect her attacks, you'll have to face the onslaught of her FC 50/50 like you've explained too. Couple this with her 1,1 which is a high-mid that tracks both sidestepping and side-walking, she can really control the tempo of a match. D3 is an amazing i12 low poke that is only -1 on hit and -12 on block. Her space control on ff1 being an elbow and i13 if done properly can devastate opponents and control space. I completely agree with you that Julia's wall carry is kind of nuts, although I have to admit that Julia's poke game is actually very, very good. Her biggest strength is her FC 50/50 game, which can demolish people if they guess wrong a couple of times - especially at the wall. Originally posted by The Fabled Englishman:Her poke game isn't particularly good and her punishment is on the weaker side. I'm still pretty sure Julia might be the only character who can carry from wall to wall on most stages.Īnd yeah, you can play Julia safely, but why? Her poke game isn't particularly good and her punishment is on the weaker side. Sure, wall carry is insane for everyone in S3. What we have to admit tho is that she is actually not really a risky charakter if youre Disciplined (but maybe you can say this about all charakters ?) you can live without randomly spamming out -14 Strings and moves or random bow and Arrow that is -17 on block :DĪLSO wall Travel is insane for everyone in Season 3. She has some very strong and tricky tools but alot of people that complain, do so about her actually weaker scrub killer moves like the LONG RANGE f3~1 which enough people figured out to step or even worse. Originally posted by Sekij:I think alot of people that complain about her have in general a problem with dealing with pressure and "weird" mixups. Her punishment is also mega-junk unless you can i12 punish with ff14 (which nobody can).īasically, she's just one of those characters (a bit like King) who is accepted to be good but nobody plays her competitively because why bother with such a complex character when you can just play a relatively simple, powerful character like Kazumi, Shaheen or Leroy? She requires execution for shotgun cancels etc and she lacks standard tools like a normal df1. A large portion of her kit is -14 or outright launch punishable. On the flip side, she's pretty high-risk. Her strengths lie in her 50/50 game, her setups - inclusive of all of her war drums setups and her wall carry. She's definitely good and most people accept that she's top-tier but she doesn't get much hype because she's too high-risk and complex to play. People were talking about her when Mikio was steamrolling Leroy players at Evo Japan with Julia. Julia just happens to be the one barely anyone talks about. And while it is true there are several characters that can be used for competitive play, the top chars are just too strong imo. Tekken always rewarded defensive playstyle when done right. Julia and other characters steamroll so hard that I couldn't tell any new player with a straight face to just wait the pressure out, be patient and wait for their window to attack. And if you don't wanna nerf them, then buff the overall movement or other defensive options. All the characters you mentiioned deserve nerfs too imo. But from my very subjective point of view, I disagree. I know it is common to say buffs are always better than nerfs. They're all in similar spot of being really good characters, but not good to the point where they break the game. If Julia deserves nerfs so much, then may as well nerf Jin, Law, Zafina, Steve or potentially Kazumi. Not for characters that are simply strong. Characters that actually break the game or make any other character pointless and therefore kill the hype. What's going on with this constant begging for nerfs? Nerfs should be reserved for cases such as fahkumram or leroy. She's very strong, but not to the point where it becomes unfair. But she's not so good that she deserves to be nerfed into the ground.
